Psalm 139:1-6

LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.  You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.  You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

Awhile back, I was knee deep in a tedious home improvement project. During an estimate of a credible electrician, I asked him to assess the work and cost of service. I followed him at first, then he began sharing details that were way over my head. It stood to reason that he knew what he was talking about because I didn’t know what he was talking about! It didn’t have to make sense to me as that is out of my wheelhouse. To save us both time, I politely interrupted and said, “I trust you know how to make it work. Just let me know what I need to do.” Instantly, I heard a still, small, chilling voice say, “If only it were that easy for my children to trust me in that same way.” This profound word stopped me in my tracks. We trust electricians with our electrical set up and repairs, we trust plumbers to keep things flowing, we trust tech support with our electronic devices, etc. Why? Because they are trained experts, specialized in those fields. We must remember that God, Almighty, the Creator of the Universe, will know things that our over our heads, and have plans that we cannot attain or comprehend until His Divine design is revealed, in His time. Let’s be mindful to say to our Heavenly Father, who sees ALL, knows ALL, and is connected EVERYWHERE, “God, I trust you know how this whole life thing works. Just let me know what I need to do.”
