In Loving Memory of Susan (Suzie) Mae Moore, Laughlin

Susan (Suzi) Mae Moore Laughlin died peacefully at Rockcastle Regional Respiratory Care Center in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on July 14, 2023 at the age of 77. She bravely fought a long battle with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure. Her son James, daughter-in-law Lori, and Father Alfredo Balsualdo of Our Lady of Mount Vernon Catholic Church were lovingly present as she journeyed on to meet her Lord and Savior.
Susan was born on May 3, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a devoted mother of two children. Susan was multi-talented. She worked as a secretary for many years as well as a finisher in construction. She had a passion for horses throughout her life and was a member and writer for the Rockcastle Saddle Club. She was also a wonderful artist and sketched many beautiful pictures especially of horses. Susan loved music, boating and camping, playing her guitar, raising and co-training Tennessee Walking Horses. She deeply loved and was intensely devoted to her family. Her closest friends fondly remember her compassionate willingness to share comfort, strength, and laughter whenever they needed loving support.
Susan is preceded by her mother Gertrude Moore (néHanlon), her father Charles Benjamín Moore, brothers Charles Benjamin Moore, Jr. James Irving Moore and sister Marsha Kay Moore. She is survived by her brother Thomas Owen Moore and paternal half-brother Robert Elwood Moore, son James William Thompson who is a Surgical Technician for UK. Suzie is also survived by daughter-in-law Lori Thompson, who is a Retired Nurse for UK. She is survived by grandson Lucas James Thompson, daughter Christi Lee Higgins, son-in-law Richard James Higgins, and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks and appreciation to all the healthcare professionals for their exceptional care of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-UK Medical Center, Lexington Premiere Nursing Facility, Brookdale Nursing Facility, Good Samaritan Hospital, Premier Select Respiratory Center, and Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
Gratitude and thank you to all the Christian Clergy especially Father Anthony McLaughlin and Father Alfredo Balsualdo for visiting Mom often and giving her Blessed Sacraments to help with her journey.
Susan was laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Kentucky.
